- There are 14 World Cup qualifying leagues around the world. North American riders can qualify in the North America East and North America West leagues.
- In Canada, riders who live in Manitoba and west are part of the west league and riders who live in Ontario and east are part of the east league.
- The North America West league includes Mexico.
- Points are awarded to the rider, not the rider/horse combination.
- The two Canadians (from either or both leagues) with the most points will be eligible to go to the World Cup Final.

Held annually since 1979, the World Cup Final is the world final for indoor show jumping and is an individual title only.
Meredith Michaels Beerbaum, of Germany, is the reigning World Cup champion for the third time. The 2010 World Cup Final will be held in April in Geneva.
The sport of show jumping has both a World Cup and a World Championship. Unlike the World Championships, the World Cup offers only an individual title. The World Cup Final is always indoor jumping, whereas the World Championships is outdoor jumping. The World Cup is held annually, whereas the World Championships are held every four years, mid-year between Olympics. To compete in the World Show Jumping Championships you must be selected by your national equestrian federation. To compete in the World Cup, you must qualify in a qualifying league, not necessarily in your own country.
